RETHINKING E-LEARNING ACCESSIBILITY: toward didactic guidelines to design inclusive activities, Proceedings of the 2013 ATEE Winter Conference - Learning & Teaching with Media & Technology. Genoa, 07-09 March, 2013. Paper presented at ATEE International Conference 2013, describes my work of realization of guidelines to plan accessible e-learning courses.

COMPLEX LEARNING: A way for rethinking Pedagogies and Processes in Technology-Enhanced learning and Education, Proceedings of the International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies” “ICALT 2012” (4 -6 July 2012 - Rome) . Complex Learning is a pedagogical approach based on personalization, hybridization of learning environments, tools and codes, and participatory learning. In this approach, students are supported to become active users and co-producers of learning sources, within the paradigms of complexity, transactional theory, and ubiquitous learning.


The chapter COMPLEX LEARNING: A Way of Rethinking Teaching and Learning, written by me and my colleagues Marco Guspini and Laura Vettraino, illustrates the approach from the theoretical, methodological and practical point of view, describing its conditions of implementation, results and future prospects. The chapter is published in the book Synergic Integration of Formal and Informal E-Learning Environments for Adult Lifelong Learners, edited by S. Leone (Università Politecnica delle Marche) and published by IGI Global. Available from October 2013 on the Publisher's website.


THE AGEING BRAIN: NEUROPLASTICITY AND LIFELONG LEARNING The role of adult education is becoming increasingly important in the framework of policies to promote lifelong learning. Adult participation in training activities, however, is still rather low, despite the incentives and initiatives aimed at allowing all citizens access to education and training at all ages in their lives. Participation tends to decrease concomitantly with increasing age: the major difficulty that elderly people have in learning is due to a deterioration of brain function, causing a progressive weakening of concentration, memory and mental flexibility. Today, advanced researches in neuroscience show that brain ageing may be reversible: the brain is plastic in all stages of life, and its maps can restructure themselves through learning experiences.
